Engine on board

For strategic partner Pilot Freight Services, Militzer & Münch handled several transports of passenger aircraft engines. The customer: a US American aerospace manufacturer.

The engines, measuring 5.6 x 2.5 x 2.7 meters and weighing 6.5 tons each, were transported from Tashkent, the Uzbek capital, to Atlanta, USA, a distance of over 17,000 kilometers.

The preconditions

With this order, Pilot Freight Services fully relied on the proven and tested cooperation with Militzer & Münch. Both partners have been collaborating worldwide for many years already.  Pilot Freight Services makes use of the Militzer & Münch logistics network in almost 30 countries, while Militzer & Münch benefits from access to all Pilot locations in the USA, in Canada, and in Mexico.

The execution

From Tashkent, Militzer & Münch trucked the engines the 600 kilometers to the Uzbek city of Navoi to be loaded onto a plane. From Navoi airport, the shipment went to Incheon in South Korea and from there on to Atlanta, the destination in the USA. After three days the cargo arrived safe and in time. The Militzer & Münch teams from Germany, Uzbekistan, and Switzerland cooperated closely on this transport.

“This year, there will be more import and export shipments of airplane engines. Our customer expects reliability and maximum transparence as well as end-to-end communication”, says Richard Phillips, Chief Executive Officer of Pilot Freight Services.
